  1. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hello everyone! I have had my SAAB 93 2001 Design ed. convertible for a little while now, and I am quite happy with it (appart from the DI pack that fried 2 months ago!) and the firewall that needed strenghtning (as per a recall from SAAB). I have noticed some wear marks on the outside of the...

I had a new pair of Goodyear F1 asymetrics fitted to the front of my Aero estate in September 2009. 20,000 miles later they are down to 3mm. Nothing wrong with that I can hear you thnking - but for 6 months I've had the winter tyres fitted. I reckon that they have only covered around 12,000...
  3. Saabscene: Performance
Hello all, I have been transferring suspension bits over from my old 9k to my new one, namely today swapping my suspension arms over, and have noticed that all my poly bushes are not as good as expected. The worst ones are the front suspension arm rear bushes, which have a good few mm play in...

I've got a 9-3 Sportswagon and no matter what I do I can't get more than 12000 miles out of the front tyres. The annoying thing is its always the outside tread that wears and the middle and inside have more than enough left.I've had the car tracked numerous times by different garages and they all...

  6. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi, I'm new here so if I make etiquette error please let me know. I have a 9-5 1.9 Diesel TiD 07Estate model auto, and I,m really pleased with it. However I just got a £300 bill for two front tyres 235/45, because of excessive wear to the inner rim. The tyre shop says I have 5mm of toe in...
  7. Tyres, Wheels, and Brakes
Hi All Whilst I had the wheels off today I did an inspection of the discs/pads and discovered they have seen better days. Should I have wear sensors for the pads on this car model? The SID seems to tell me lots and I thought that it might tell me when the pads are low? On closer inspection I...

Just checked the pressues on my 2001 Griffin and was shocked o find both rear tyres (Falken F452's) almost down to the wear bars. They were new in January and have covered 7000 miles, the fronts fitted at the same time are at 5mm. The car passed an MOT in April with no advisories. Any clues...
  9. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I recently grew a little concerned about the tracking of the rear axle on our 2.2tid recently, having spent some time recently on the camber adjustment (rear) which I now knew to be within tolerance. I decided, after been given misleading advice from a Saab independent on rear tracking (can`t be...

We have a Saab 9-3 convertible, registered 2006. From new it has excessive tyre wear on the front, most noticeable is on the outside of the offside tyre. Tyres last approximately 16,000 miles. The local Saab garage has interchanged the two front wheels so that both front tyres show heavy wear...

I'd be interested to hear any recommendations for the best products to clean and refurbish the cream leather seats on my newly acquired Aero. They don't have any rips, but are far from clean and have plenty of creases where the coloured leather skin has worn away. I'd like to re-colour the worn...
  12. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi All, My trusty 95 is now on 146k but has trashed its last pair of Goodyear F1 Assys in 10k with terrible cupping on the inner edge. It's always done this to a certain extent but this is getting ridiculous! Before the new tyres went on, I had the long arm bushes replaced by those fine chaps...

Im running vredestein ultrac sessantas which i find superb in the wet and dry. I have recently found them to struggle in the snow and was considering some winter tyres. However ive just cheked the tread and after putting them on in around June they are down to the wear indicator already...

I've got a set of 18" Hirsch Alloys and tyres on my 9-5. Whilst they seemed to be ok in the summer, I have noticed that the front wheels feel like they're slipping when I do a full turn. I have also noticed that the front tyres have got a quite alot of wear on the outside, I know that this is...

Does anyone know the maximum disc wear that is considered safe to use? Looking at the Brembo site, standard 25mm discs apparently have a minimum thickness of 22mm IE a 12% loss allowance. Cheers P
  17. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Just noticed both my rear tyres are wearing quite a lot more on the inside edges that anywhere else, probably 3-4mm of tread on the rest and bald on the inside. What causes this? I was under the impression they weren't adjustable. Is this right??
  18. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi Starting to get some "whirring" noise from the front under acceleration, thought it may be a sign of CV joint wear. Haven't had time to jack her up and have a look as yet though. Should there be much play in the drive shaft? How do I test for CV joint wear? I seem to remember something...
  19. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Whilst checking pressures today I was surprised to find the rear tyres on my Griffin worn to the legal limit on one sde and very nearly at the limit the other side, both fronts still have plenty of tread left. The wear is even across both tyres. The reason for my surprise is that all tyres were...

Hi can anyone tell me what the front pad wear indicator is. I've read it warns when the pads are down to 3mm but is it like the other 'ding dong' warning sound and will any warning symbols appear. I'me curious as must've missed it or changed pads before the last 3mm. thanks
