Hello, I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector. I have been having what I am going to refer to as "turbo lag" issues. When I push the throttle to the floor in 3-6 gears I get an engine shudder and loss of power. There are no engine lights on, but I was told by a friend that it might be the wastegate...

I have a 2007 9-3 Sedan 2.0T w/ 84k miles on her so far. Car runs great and I don't seem to be loosing an alarming or unusual amount of oil between changes. Maybe 1qt per 5k miles. Poking my head around the engine bay not long ago I spotted some oil under the wastegate. The wastegate itself...

So i have been through quite a bit with my 1995 saab 9000 aero. I recently replaced the turbo and am waiting for the forge WGA. The question is this. If I drive super carefully, i.e dont spike the turbo, can I actually drive the car without damaging the engine or turbo? I have to go to a funeral...

Hi all. Can somebody tell me on a 2004 saab 9-3 2.2 tid vector sport are the egr solenoid and the wastegate solenoid the same part?? And also the vacuum hose running from the wastegate to the solenoid is basically split into 3 different pipes... 1 (4mm I guess) hose connected to the wastegate...

So I bought a 2004 9-3 linear just over a month ago now, and prior to buying it I had a mechanic whom I never used before check it over and he said that everything looked great. He either lied or didn't detect the issue I'm having. I had my previous mechanics take a look after I had no success...

Hi All, I've been a fan of this site for a few years now, having found it to be an excellent resource for diagnosing problems/scaring myself silly throughout my time as a Saab owner. A few months ago I took the plunge and swapped my ailing 2.0 lpt V reg 9-3 for a shiny 2.2TID 9-5 estate (54...

Hi, Been in the background for a while, really great forum a from a newbie, I had no problems with the wife's convertible until yesterday, when the EML came on:( The wastegate rod has come off the wastegate, has anyone got a photo of how it should be please, the wastegate lever appears to have...

Hi there can someone help...... When I start the car the wastegate solenoid sucks down the actuator arm back, is this the normal operation of the solenoid. Or is it ment to remain in the forward position? (actuator out) any help would be great. The car is a 93 2002 newer shape.

Has anybody got a scrap Mitsubushi turbo that I can buy for reasonably money. I only need the exhaust housing as my wastegate poppet valves fallen off. Or, I can swop for parts if preferred. I'm at Notts. Thanks. Mike.

i dont know if anyone here has done this or not but it appears to be a fairly easy mod. basically the wastegate has an adjustment nut on the rod and allegedly loosening the nut and turning the end of the rod three turns clockwise can adjust base boost. i guess what im asking is if this mod is...

Hi The engine management light came on this morning on the way to work, so i called the RAC to come and check what the faults were. There were two faults: Turbo Waste-gate solenoid range and Crank-cam positioner sensor. The chap who came out said not to worry about the latter as if it...

I am trying to take the wastegate actuator off one car and fit it to mine, tried today but failed then ran out of time. I can see the pin at the end of the rod but couldn't prise it out, I got the bottom nut off the other end but couldn't get any spanners/sockets that I had onto the top nut as...

It appears that a circlip has fallen off the actuator arm on the turbo wastegate and it produces a warning on the ECU. Is there some way to ensure that this clip stays in position.

How much should the wastegate arm move? Mine only moves about 1 or 2 mm
  16. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi. After a few posts and much deliberation, i have come to the conclusion that i have a problem with the wastegate on my (2000)9-5t estate. The wastegate actuator rod has come off it's fixing (which i believe is connected to the gate within the housing) and where it is supposed to be attached...

Sure everyone's aware of this all too common problem, the pin corroding and the wastegate rod falling off.. I've just bought a Forge actuator whilst I'm on with this but what's left of the pin is corroded in to the hole. I think I recall someone saying the replaced this with a 'spring' washer...

Hi, I recently had a problem with my '05 (55 plate) 1.9 TiD vector which the main dealer diagnosed as a faulty wastegate actuator. They said Saab do not sell the wastegate actuator seperately from the turbo so I would have to pay €800 for this. I then went to my local opel dealership and...

I have lost the R-pin off the wastegate boss. Happened 200mls from home but no real problem on the motorway home. Maintained a decent lick without the turbo. Trouble is the remains of the pin are stuck in the hole and bits of bent wire don't work. I am thinking to drop the JT downpipe to give me...
  20. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Was under the wife's 93MY 9000 CS LPT this morning checking the vacuum hoses as it's been down on power. The hoses were fine, but the arm on the end of the wastegate actuator had corroded and broken off at the end where it goes over the pin on the wastegate. At least that explains the lack of...
