  1. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi all saabists, I was just wondering if my 08 9-3 vector sport 8v has a variable geometry turbo and if so what does that mean or do I really need to know? I came across the forte turbo cleaner and it mentions it's for this type of turbo and cleans the veins? Just curious and I no there's...
  2. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I've had this problem for a while and can't sort it.... Most noticeable on motorway when cruising at 70/80. Foot down to accelerate and very low power/acceleration. I also notice that the turbo gauge only goes about halfway up. This can happen for a few miles and then seems to clear itself. At...

Autoblog Green are carrying a story about a French company called MCE reviving the variable compression engine, a concept first made real by Saab back in 2000. They pay plenty of tribute to Saab in the press release, too. <blockquote>In March 2000, Saab unveiled its Variable Compression...

Can anyone explain why bombing down the slip road at 60 in third and flooring it the boost is intermitant? on off on off on off all in about 3-4 seconds? I had a new APC fitted 2 months ago so it cant be that again can it? Perhaps the wastegate cant cope? the boost is running 0.8 bar as it is a...

Some of you may know I've been chasing a problem with variable perfomance on my 9k (MY93 Trionic)for some time now (over a year!). We've tried allsorts... ECU remaps, various different hardware changes etc, all to no avail. One day it'll go like stink, the other it's comparatively gutless. Most...
  7. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I,m running 9000 cs 2.3 lpt 1997. When the engine is cold the turbo is now starting to lurch . Boosting then dying then picking up again. Nothing too heavy but pronounced enough to be noticable. When the car heats up it runs perfectly. Incidently i put a bottle of that stp fuel injector cleaner...

Just read an advert for the new BMW 535d. Its got two turbo's one small and one large. Sounds like a great idea, the smaller one obviously spooling up very quickly and delivering a smooth instant take off, with the larger one giving a large thump once the revs have increased. Is this the...
  10. Saabscene: Performance
It's always been a strange car in that sometimes it goes like a Mig on takeoff, and other times it's just fairly quick. There doesn't seem to be a pattern or reason, and it never does the super rapid acceleration when I'm taking people who own jap cars for a drive. Lately though, the...
  11. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I've suspected for a while that my turbo wasn't giving as much as I thought it should. Even under hard acceleration the boost gauge needle hardly gets into the red area. So, after searching on the site and following most of the advice re: checking hoses and wastegate actuator etc...

Hi, I am new to this list although have been lurking for a few weeks. Here is my problem: I have recently switched from a nice classic 900 Aero to a beautiful 1998 9000 2.3T Anniversary with the 225 bhp Aero engine. The car has 58000 miles on the clock and a full Saab history. All is well...

Hello all First message I've posted so hope it works! Inthe S.O.C. magazine a couple of months ago was an article on how to convert the front wipers to give a variable intermittant delay simply by changing the relay for a VW item. I did this mod and it works fantastically giving a delay between...

I recently read in an Automotive Industry Technical publication about a variable capacity engine which Saab were developing. The engine had the capability of increasing its capacity and subsequent power output from 1600 cc to 3000 cc dependant on load and performance requirements of the driver...
