  1. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi all, I have a 53 plate 03-07) 2.0t Vector, 175bhp convertible which has just failed MOT needing a new subframe as its rusted away to a point where its too weak. I saw it for myself and can see the problem which looks like its been caused by air con dripping condensation onto it. I can find...
  2. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Guys, Anyone done this ? I need to replace the bushes on both the upper and lower arms on my Aero estate. There is a bit of movement there and I suspect it is the cause of the excessive camber on the rear wheels. This causes premature wear on the inner edges of the tyres. I see sets of...

I'm Greg, and I'm not the Saab fanatic that many on this site are. Nevertheless, I really love my Aero Wagon, which is just a joy to drive and is a great kayak carrier. I would really NOT have loved the Subaru LL Bean Ltd Wagon that was the alternative I passed up in 2003 when I bought my car...

Hi, Just wondering if fitting a subframe brace to my 9-3 will make a difference to my insurance premium, anyone got any experience of this? thanks
  7. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Just had the front sub-frame bushes changed. The rear two bushes were advisory at the last two MOTs. Anyway what a difference, brilliant, all the knocks and bangs from the front have gone and no knocks through the sterring wheel. Both rear bushes fell to bits on removal, middle bushes were...
  8. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I need to get my front subframe bushes done and most places are quoting 4-5 hours labour plus the parts so around £500. Although I have had a quote from a garage (they have had the car on the ramps and looked at it) for £120. Have they made a mistake or am I missing something? Should I take it...
  9. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Has anyone replaced these? I need to have my o/s three done to remove a groaning and clunking on potholes (I have replaced everything else vaugely attached to the suspension ARB and wishbones so have exhausted all the items that would usually cause this and it remains to drive me insane...

Can anyone tell me how difficult this is to carry out? Rerally need to know what I am going to get into in changing the no/s ones
  11. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Anyone done the subframe mounts at all? Perusing another Forum recently, this one came up as a possible reason for the coarseness at idle. While the torque rod is underengineered and chops out quite quickly, is the idle issue related to the subframe mounts? Any ideas?

Hi I'm new here and a first time Saaber, I was hoping someone might be able to give some advice. After taking the plunge I have bought a 1999 9-3 cab 2.0L i, I love the car but find it has an exsessive shake whilst accellerating. The shake feels as if the wheels need balancing but this isn't...
  13. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Thanks first off for the info on my 9000 CDE 2.3 that i received on here prior to purchasing. The car is pretty much 100% in most areas - the only thing is when turning the wheel when either stationary or very slow moving there is a distinct suspensioney type boing/clunk/graunch - very hard to...
  14. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Had the rear of the car in the air this afternoon to track down a rumblng noise (seems like it could be a wheel bearing). I noticed that the rear subframe bush had what looked like a reasonably large gap between the top of the bush and the car bodywork - something like 2-3mm - when it had the...

Hi All you experts out there my Griff is in need of some more TLC. (I do have mechanical experience & I have a pretty good tool kit built up over the years working on military aircraft & my various cars) I may need to change the rear and maybe the front, front sub-frame bushes soon, so I have...

Hi all I was just wondering if anyone could supply me with the torques for the various subframe bolt torques? I think I have found a couple in Haynes, but there seems to be many missing. Reason for wanting this is that while jacking the engine to fit new hydraulic engine mounts last weekend I...

My 93 CSE (2.3FPT) is on ramps in my local repairers (no not a Saab specialist) He tells me that the main subframe bolts (n/s rear (2) M8 I believe are not catching and cant be tightened. Proposed solution is to get M9 bolts and retap holes I am looking at an EPC print and I see that the bolts...
