Hello. For the last 7 months, and after changing a bit my driving style (but mostly due to luck, being in the right road at the right time), I had no problems with the DPF on my 9-3 TiD. The other day I turned the engine off after a 50km drive and I noticed that particular smell and I thought...
  4. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
After asking in the 9-3 section and getting no response, I thought I'd ask here with some 9000 owners who may have the knowledge to help, as I understand the same mod is possible on a 9000, and I suspect more of you have done it given the strength of the last 'true' Saab. Basically, I've...
  5. Classic Saab 9-3/GM900 (1994 - 2002)/Conv ( -2003)
So, I converted to FPT using an APC valve and a FPT ECU. VSS has been coded to my car by a friendly Indy and everything runs well. No problems. Thing is, it doesn't seem as quick as I had expected. The APC valve, I'm certain is connected correctly - C to the turbocharger (small spigot on the...
  6. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Whilst looking for something unrelated on google I found a topic from the 93 related to removing the cars boost electronic setting. Tricking the car into thinking it was never at full boost. This chap's idea sounds good in principle as the fuel regulator is rising rate so up the boost up the...

In a thread earlier this week i mention that i had my car serviced about 7/8K ago at a Saab indy and i was getting a message on my SID saying my oil was right on empty; it was. Now im get a message on the SID saying that my coolant level is low, fill now. I wouldnt have thought any of these...

Hi folks, The beastie failed it's MOT today on CV gaiters and number plate light out. It also failed on "carbon monoxide content at idle excessive" - 7.3.2c and "carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive" - 7.3.2b I don't have the emissions report yet but I'm going to get it from...
  10. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Thanks to everyone who post answers on the forums. I have solved a number of my issues without ever having to post. Now I am on to a problem that I am hoping someone can help me narrow down. My 1995 9000 Aero has an issue with full throttle. The car idles smooth and runs fine at moderate...

The following text is a reproduction of the speech given by Neil Whitehead, Aftersales Manager of GM Premium Brands here in Australia. The 9-3 range in Australia is quite diverse, with around 48 different combinations of body, engine and trim to consider. This speech covers some of the...

I seem to have solved some problems I had with fluctating boost levels, and am about to order a new APC valve to cure this (am currently using one provided by Mark E). While the boost seems steady, it only goes as far as the start of the red section on the in-dash gauge. This is about what it...
  13. Saab trackday
Whilst static noise measurements are taken prior to cars going on the circuit, they are only an indication of likely levels, and in actual fact the key limit on noise at the track is not individual vehicle noise per se the the cumulative/integrated noise level of all vehicles on the track e.g...

  16. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I've suspected for a while that my turbo wasn't giving as much as I thought it should. Even under hard acceleration the boost gauge needle hardly gets into the red area. So, after searching on the site and following most of the advice re: checking hoses and wastegate actuator etc...

Ok - so I now have my speedparts stage 1 and decat JT3" full system in the Aero and I thought I would check the base boost. Following the instructions - flooring through 3krpm and touching the brake, my meter reads just under 0.5Bar which is correct for spec. What surprises me is that it hasnt...
