Hi, The boot will lift if I pull it up but heavy and stiff, seem to be working against the hydraulics rather than with? Is this a common fault. Is there an easy fix I can do myself or am I going to need to buy new parts and use the garage mechanics. Any help be greatly appreciated?

I just received bad news that not only is my soft top motor gone bad but ALL my hydraulic lines need to be replaced. How bad is it? Has anyone else had this happen? It's a 2001 9-3 SE. He says it will be at least a $1,000 in labor and I found the lines used for $450 - $800.

Hi all Has anyone used Top Hydraulics Inc in Oregon to rebuild their convertible soft top leaking cylinders? Was the rebuild successful? And does anyone have detailed instructions on removal/refitting of the 5 cylinders? This would include cycling the soft top operation successfully. Thanks

For anyone who has had a failure of the master latch hyudraulic cylinder of their 9-3 Convertible, you may already be experiencing the problem of obtaining a new/used hydraulic cylinder as a replacement. As my mechanic said- "these seem to be on intergalactic backorder". And what odd Saab part...

Our softtop, convertible is using oil. I have found that both left and right main cylinders are leaking at endcaps around piston rod. It then becomes very noisy and sottop fails to operate. Topping up the oil, gets it working again. Can any one recomend replacements other than OEM, or has...

I had a soft top maliciously damaged and had an insurance job on a new hood. When I picked up the car I cycled the hood and it stuck and got fault signals. insurance company now claims the problem is wear and tear on one of the hood hydraulic cylinders. it worked perfectly when I left the car...

I've got the Saab part number for the hydraulic oil for the soft-top on a 2000 93 'vert, but I've not been able to find an alternative source. Does anyone know what the spec for the oil is? All I know is that its NOT the same as that for the earlier models which used 10W engine oil. Bob.
