  1. Tyres, Wheels, and Brakes
Had the Saab for just over a week now and despite the bodywork still being reasonably clean the wheels have gone from silver to filthy! Thinking that this is going to be an ongoing thing with the brake dust coating my wheels after a fresh clean so I'm thinking about getting them refurbed in...

Hi All! Well my daughter's new Aero is at the dealers because of the Steering Lock Malfunction, but I have another question that relates to her car. I ordered new Akebono Euro Ceramic brake pads from an online store. They didn't fit. Went to the Akebono web site and confirmed that they were...

  7. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Well, it's happened, my 2000 2.0lpt SE 9-5 died on friday. With no warning it started sounding like a bag of nails in a tin dustbin. big end bearings shot. I've had the car for nearly a year, it's been kept on a strict diet of Mobil1 and Saab oil filters every 6 months (about 6000 miles)...
  8. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
I have a 12 year old 9000 Aero. Over the last couple of weeks a dark grey dust has been coming out of the windscreen vents. On close inspection of the larger pieces it appears to be small bits of foam so there must be some foam in the ventilation pipework which has decided to crumble. Can...

When I say spot's, what I mean is those wee "dot's" of really hardened dust, I tried a small amout of T cut but nope!, then a polishing compound again, nope!. The wheel's are "clean", but I want them CLEAN if you know what I mean. I also have Illuminate which is an acidic alloy cleaner and also...

Just had a reminder at work about the risk of using the cheap dustmasks that are the cloth/cotton wool pad, held in place with a piece of tin. Anyone still using these? Health & Safety Executive Advice (been around 18 months or so): Warning against the use of nuisance dust masks Nuisance...

A great big albatross must have dumped on my windscreen. Silly me left it on for a day. Tried to get the ****** off and it was like cement. To cut a story short after a good soak I had to scrape it with a credit card, only to find next morning it had scratched my windscreen!! Does...

As many of you have noticed front brake dust is an ugly problem with the 9-5. Is there anything out there that will stop the dust build up. Is there a pad out that doesn't create so much dust. Also where can I find the front CLEAR signal lights for a MY 2000?

  15. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Is there any sort of treatment I can put on my alloys to stop the brake dust sticking to the wheels? I hate cleaning the car, going for a drive then coming back with two black front wheels. I might stop braking! James
  16. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I am to replace my Saab pads (front) with another set. We have covered the topic of stopping power and lifetime of different aftermarket pads quite well, now it's something else to discuss... Now the question is: which of the aftermarket make less dust than the Saab genuines? To make the...

Thought I'd share with you all my experience of removing one of these 'beauties' from my '96 2.3 LPT, 125K miles. It took me most of Sunday to do it, learning as I went. I only disassembled the throttle housing & IAC plus a few hoses to get to the job, but didn't need to touch anything like...
