My car's got the same AF33 automatic 5-speed gearbox as used in many Saabs. For the last year the car has been thudding/jolting when I first switch it on and shift from Park into Drive. Reverse is fine and the gearbox changes up and down with no problems during normal driving. It's only when...

Today my wife was stuck on a three x three lane road with a dead Saab. It started fine. Then power was lost, and she could not get the car to start again, and was honked for an hour and more this evening (as if she could do anything about being stuck there, duh!) Roadside assistance verified...

I have an oil leak - well, seep, anyway - from the 'core plug' that seals the distributor mounting hole on the gearbox end, exhaust camshaft side, of the head. I've not seen mention of this problem on here; has anyone had it before? Is there an easy way to sort it? I can see three obvious...

Hi All, Has anyone had the problem of oil coming up the distributor shaft and getting into rota cap? And if a pick a distributor up from a scrap yard can it only go in correctly, ie, will I need a timing light to set it up or can it only go in one way, or do i only need a new seal? The car...

Next weekend I'm going to be replacing the valve cover gasket, and replacing the 'O' ring seal to the distributor as well as the distributor rotor and cap. This is the first time I've gone this far into an engine so I was wondering if there was anything else I should look at while I'm there. A...
