Hi, After a service last week at 126,000 miles on my 2004 model Vector 2.2TiD 53 reg, the service completed OK, I collected the car and drove home. After a couple of short journeys, I did a return trip of 330 miles mostly motorway. On the return leg, I started to notice a droning/thrumming...

Just had mine replaced under warranty, I'd heard about problems with the hoses on it, but not about anyone needing a complete replacement. Anyone else had this issue? If you want I can explain what the problem feels/sounds like

( not engine speed or gear related ) The noise has got worse over the years and recently has got much worse - sounds...

Last year I took my '03 9-5 Aero Estate to Abbott Racing for a new stainless exhaust system inc race cat and ECU upgrade. Afterwards the car had an amazing amount of midrange grunt. When driving from a-b it was still refined but when pressing on it sounded great under full throttle. Fuel...

Last Sunday I discovered, just before mating my newly re-built Aero engine to the gearbox, some oil in the just-washed bellhousing. Further investigation revealed it was cracked along the small casting mark underneath output shaft! (you could have knocked me down with a feather) oh dear or...
  11. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Called at the garage today to check on my '96 2.3lpt manual after having the diff rebuilt and new speed sensor ring gear fitted. They said they couldn't start the car. I checked the light on the top of the dash and the immobiliser was on. Pressing the key fob didn't turn it off. I tried...

I have been reliably informed that an ATB diff from a 9000 can be fitted to a classic 900 5-speed gearbox, with some modification. Does anybody out there know of this or maybe they even have one on their classic 900. I have the opportunity to fit a 'proper' plate LSD, but the car will be used...

I'm having serious traction difficulties on 225 45 R17 Kumho 712s. "Innovative, dynamic design and racing experience is what distinguishes this product. Optimal traction and a good behaviour in wet conditions make any long drive a routine." My routine now is to try and keep one wheel...
  14. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I started the engine with the wheels off and the front jacked up on stands. Car was in neutral (manual) and full lock to the right. The RH wheel (or hub as the wheel was off) started revolving slowly, so there must be some residual connection even in neutral. However, that is not my concern...
  15. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Hi again Just typical isn't it? I fix a water leak in one place just to have it pop out somewhere else . Oh well. As a result I'm searching the breakers first for a decent second hand one, but I'm not likely to find a dead aero so was wondering what spec' 9000s have co compatible radiators...

Have any of you chaps got a diff from a 99 (preferably late 4 speed box 78-81 ish) laid around in the workshop. I need to know the distance between the inner faces of the differential trunnions ( or spider gears if you prefer) Anyone with a diff but no idea of what I'm talking about , I can...

  20. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
My 89 Carlsson has been religiously serviced but i note that the oil level in the diff is well above 'max.' Horrors, there is no drain plug! Haynes says there is but where there should be there isn't. When I got the car at 151k there was no whine at all, but the rubber bush in the gear selection...
