  2. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi all, My 2008 9-3 has 145k km on it, and was having some cold start issues these past few weeks when it dropped below freezing at night. It would take a few seconds to catch, but once it warmed up it was fine. Yesterday morning was the first time it would not start at all...the starter motor...
  3. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi Folks My 9-3 TID has this afternoon started mis firing, whilst travelling down the motorway. It is now sounding like it is running on 3 cylinders, and drives as though this is the case. There isn't any smoke, or any other noises that I have noticed. It's as if the plug lead has been pulled...
  4. Classic Saab 9-3/GM900 (1994 - 2002)/Conv ( -2003)
Hi all Has anyone used Top Hydraulics Inc in Oregon to rebuild their convertible soft top leaking cylinders? Was the rebuild successful? And does anyone have detailed instructions on removal/refitting of the 5 cylinders? This would include cycling the soft top operation successfully. Thanks

Hi All, can anyone tell me the procedure for removing the hydraulic cylinders that operate the soft top on a '99 model? I want to fit new seals / cylinders, and would like some guidance on the best way to strip the assembly.

New SAAB owner, 1997 900S N/A - went into this project with my eyes wide open with the intent on fixing it as a commuter car. Had a code of "missfire on #3", and blowing blue/grey smoke. Dry compression check showed #3 cylinder was 30 points lower than the others and wet check did not change...
  8. Saab 95 & 96 Two stroke and V4 (1949 - 1980)
Hi all, Tell me if you already knew this but.. I am beginning the renovation of the longnose two stroke and needed to change the front brake cylinders. These are the twin leading shoe type with automatic adjustment. I managed to get some nos left hand cylinders but not the rhs. I have found that...
  9. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi folks, I'm fairly new to SAAB ownership having got my 54 plate (60K) 93 8v TiD in October last year. Couldn't be happier with the car despite having read a lot of less than kind remarks about this model on the web! I do have one issue though. I have a very infrequent problem when pulling...
  10. Classic Saab 9-3/GM900 (1994 - 2002)/Conv ( -2003)
Colleague at work has a 2001 9-3SE 2.0 litre. Engine may have died (symptoms suggest otherwise - but garage says "dead engine"). Anyway, if engine is dead, he may try a rebuild. Is there any scope for a big bore option? Or is it only standard rebore oversizes that can be done on this engine...
  11. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Does anyone know if a tcs / abs master cylinder from a 91 cs 2.3 can be replaced with a non tcs version bearing in mind that ets system has already gone in favour of standard throttle body. Are the looms from abs ecu different to the two mcs and are the ecus (abs) different? Any thoughts...
  12. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Hello all, and thanks for the great forums. Our 95 9000CSE turbo has just started running on 2-3 cylinders. It did come good for a bit but then goes back to dropping 1 or 2 cylinders. I was immediately suspicious of the DI unit, so I checked it out, the black cover was cracked, as was the large...
  13. Classic Saab 900 (1979 - 1993)
Hello and seasons greeting to all Saab enthusiasts: A friend and myself recently took on the dreaded 'head gasket replacement job' on a 1991 Sabb 900i 16v, as well as renewing the fuel pump and relays which had gone (got spark and fuel to injectors). So after that we assumed everything was...
