  1. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
OK, so this post is really more of a blog. My car is a 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T Aero 5sp Automatic, with 107K miles on. I've re-mapped the car from its usual 210bhp up to 250bhp and 350Nm. So after being obsessed at giving it more power I was a bit curious into what the optimum Fuel consumption would...
  2. New Saab 9-5 (2010 - on)
Hi.... just purchased the Saab 9-5 AWD Aero and love it. Its quite thirty tho - the hand book refers to inflating the tyres to 45psi for ECO driving in comfort mode. With Drivesense and other options, what's the best combination to get the best consumption rate?
  3. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi Guys, I recently purchased a 2001 saab 9-5 estate with 168K ks on it. when i purchased it it was in immaculate condition but it had the signs that it had been sitting around for a while. To begin with it a really rough idle and was doing 16ltrs per 100Ks, i serviced it with new spark plugs...
  4. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)

  5. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Noticed this when driving my parents TiD 150, give my car a bootin for a while and the needle hardly drops, the 150 is definitely worse on fuel consumption, it would drop a notch on the same bootin. Anyone else been able to compare these two engines?
  6. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Can anyone help??? I have a 9-5 2.2 TID (03) which currently and consistenly reads 32ish MPG. I know there must be something wrong. If I try really hard I can get 40MPG but with the slightest bit of turbo over a 150mile trip it will go back to 32ish MPG. Its been serviced regularly FSSH upto...
  7. New Saab 9-5 (2010 - on)
Hi there, I'm curious about the mpg for the new 9-5: took a look in the showroom the other day, I do like the look. My last 3 cars have been Saab's, currently an '09 Aero estate, just wondering about whether to consider a new estate come the end of the year (if Saab ever start building...
  8. Help, Advice, Saabs and Motoring
A couple of weeks back on a trip up to Liverpool I accidentally filled my 9-3 estate up with Shell V-power diesel rather than standard diesel. A bit annoyed with spending ten quid more than I needed to on a tank of fuel I carried on my way. Ever since doing this my car has been returning on...
  9. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
First opportunity today to give my 54-plate 9-5 Aero Estate a long-range run. Bristol to Holyhead and back. In short, with a light touch on the throttle, climate control turned off and a tank full of Shell V-Power 99 octane the onboard computer read 40.6 mpg as I pulled into the ferry terminal...
  10. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
When I first got my "regularly serviced by a SAAB dealer (or at least book stamped and white grease on the hinges) 1995 85K miles non TCS Aero last year it would do 32-33mpg on the motorway at just under 80mph, not less than 30. Brilliant I thought..... My old 1995 146K TCS Aero same year only...
  11. Help, Advice, Saabs and Motoring
Over the past year my new 2.3T 9-5 saloon has averaged 27mpg on 97 octane in mixed motoring (and temperatures down to -15 degrees C last December). Then I filled up with Shell V-power (75% in tank at this stage) and drove 400 miles on motorways at 70mph to Gloucestershire and filled up with...
  12. New Saab 9-5 (2010 - on)
Has anyone got any experience of living with a 2.0T Aero and what they are getting in fuel consumption. I have seen a good deal which is considerably better than a TTid. Thanks
  13. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi, First time Saab owner first post. I seem to be geeting very bad fuel economy with my new 1999 9-5. Its a 2.3t and the onboard mpg gives me a reading of 16.1 to 19.1 mpg. Even when I drive very carefully I cant get it above 19.1. I just filled the tank (£77 at 129.9) it gave a reading of...
  14. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi, I'm looking to buy a 9-5 in January with a £2000 budget as a runaround for 6 months before my new car arrives in May/June. I'll be doing about 70 miles a day on the M1/M25 up to Luton and back and need to know what likely mpg I'll be getting. I've seen a few 2.3t (185bhp versions with...
  15. Help, Advice, Saabs and Motoring
Hi all, I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum but I appear to be having some strange mpg figures shown in the SID (2002MY 9-5 2.2TiD). The mpg seems to vary widely from day to day and trip to trip - from about 39 to 50+ at a pretty constant 60mph or thereabouts. I have...
  16. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
To get the ball rolling. On a trip to the North of Spain in the Wifes 9-3 120 Tid, 4 up, luggage for two weeks in the boot along with a road bike in the boot also. Total door to door average 64 mpg according to the trip computer. I am pretty sure that was fairly accurate as I did Pals (near...

I have kept a record of all fuel purchased for my 16 Saabs since 1972 and calculated consumption over the car's lifetime in my ownership. Note the 20% increase of the 9000 auto over the manual and the identical figures for three 9-5 diesel auto estates. The latest will probably match this...
  18. Saab 9-3 Sedan/Combi/TurboX/AWD(2003+)/Conv(2004+)
Hi Whenever i start my 2005 SAAB 9.3 Combi there is a fumy smell in the cab. This is whether the engine is hot or cold. Also every so often the exhaust belches out black smoke, the cabin becomes very fumy and the fuel consumption drops. I normally get around 55mpg but it probably drops to...
  19. Classic Saab 9-3/GM900 (1994 - 2002)/Conv ( -2003)
Hello guys. I am new to the forum and need some advise. I just became a proud owner of 1999 2.0t lpt auto9-3 convertible that put smile on my face whenever I take it for a spin. There is only one concern on my mind - how much petrol should this car take. My sid display says the car does about...
