used vin number to filter to the right parts on the epc, so firstly i am assuming thats correct (car is 100 miles away) but unlike other epc's it doesnt give a complete desciption... its the 1994-1996 brake disk, so i am assuming the smaller 284mm setup, but can anyone confirm with part number...
  4. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
As others may remember from some of my previous posts, I had settled on getting 17" wheels to support my move to bigger and more effective brakes. My wallet was waiting for a severe denting! However, after further research I found that Elkparts are selling a Brembo 4 pot big brake upgrade kit...

I'm a bit concerned about the breaks on my carly, but as I've never driven another I have no bench mark by which to judge them. The problem is that they don't appear to really 'bite' and feel sort of soft and not connected to the pedal (if that makes sense) I've changed the pads (and given them...

I have noticed a squealing coming from the rear brakes when I am in the dead ahead / slightly to the right at low speeds. When I flick the hand brake on and off, the problem disappears for a while. I have had new disks and pads fitted to the rear about 8 months ago. Any ideas?

  10. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Changed my brake pads last weekend for Pagid Fast Road Pads on the front and some normal pads on the rear. I cleaned the discs etc and sprayed the calipers silver with caliper paint, they look pretty good through the hammerhead alloys, better than brown metal anyway. Not too difficult a job at...

As the topic says does anyone know if they will fit a 96 900 as I am taking the kit off my 9000 and want to use them on the 900, I know different discs with five holes are needed but what about the rest? Any help is much appreciated. Many Thanks

Now that Elkparts are selling grooved and blind drilled 308mm brake discs for the Viggen and 9-5 Aero, I was wondering if there is enough demand for Elkparts to get a few drilled to fit the 4 stud 9000 hub. Please add your name to the list (my discs are pretty new, so I'm not starting):- 1. 2...
  13. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Just fitted a set of EBC 'Turbo goove' discs to the front of my Aero, needed new front brakes and spent sometime looking for a sports upgrade in Aero size, after all that searching the boys at ELKparts came up trumps Added some EBC Red Stuff Ceramic pads to the equation, hopefully this...

Hi, well the first problem i've got is the fan control/heater only works on number 4 which i've been told on 9k's is quite a common problem it's been like it since i bought the car a couple of months back but i have just decided to sort it out now, anyway i know the problem is the resistor...
  15. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Has anyone got experience of these? Since they fit on my 2.3 FPT anniv with Super Aeros without any other mods, I was wondering if anyone has compared them with the standard after-market upgrades and pads. Are they noticeably more powerful than brembos or other? Beers all round.

Suffering from spongy brakes after fitting new discs and pads. I tried bleeding them and it seemed to make a small differrence but the pedal still travels too far. If you pump them then it does improve so can I conclude it is air in the system? If so from where? And how much bleeding is...

  18. Classic Saab 900 (1979 - 1993)
Got a problem with the brakes the other day. Have had an ABS light flickering on and off when braking ever since I've had the car. I pulled the fault code 1114 which equates to front-right-inlet-valve. I replaced the front right calliper, bled the front brakes, and replaced the ABS unit. Now the...
  19. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
The Haynes Manual says "....then use a 7mm hex bit to slacken the guide pins" Ya right! How tight are those pins normally because I broke a 7mm 3/8 drive bit I got from Halfords. I now have another but I am bit nervous of winding up the torque too high. I'm frightened of braking the pin or...
  20. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
After not driving the K reg for a bit I've noticed some odd behaviour in the brakes. The brake pedal is quite firm and it takes a good push to move it and the car stops but not particularily quickly. If I pump the brake pedal several times then the pedal becomes easier to move and the brakes...
