Hi All It has been a while since I posted an update on this project. But the news is it runs, drives and crashes in that sort of order. So I guess all is well. :fawlty: Anyway here is the beast on her first day out in the wild. Just A few more things to sort out now. Like fuel...
  2. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
Hi Guys. Anyone seen this mean beast! Superswede66 - I suppose you can understand all they've written but it's quite an impressive machine even if I have no idea what it says except 300hp + http://www.garaget.org/?car=1771
  3. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
Driving my MY97 2.0 LPT Auto Anniversary on the M6 last Friday when the engine suddenly became very noisy, as I was slowing down there was an almighty bang from the engine and the assoicated loss of power. After stopping and spotting the trail of oil and the growing pool under the car the worst...
  4. Saabscene: Performance
Just thought I'd share the excitement of my FINAL upgrade on my beloved 9-5 wagon. By the end of the weekend my new Nordic ECU (just been married via Tech II) will get the best out of: .18t hybrid TD04 turbo .Bosch Green Giant Fuel Injectors (to be fitted this w/end) .ETS Intercooler This is...

  6. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
I'm afraid I have had to sell my 95 Airflow estate. I brought the car new in 2001 and I can honestly say it's the only car i've owned that where my hand always seemed to be in my pocket spending out on silly annoying faults. Don't get me wrong it was a lovely car to drive but in the end there...
  7. Classic Saab 900 (1979 - 1993)
(as our newly acquired 900xs has been named). The service history of this is unclear. The oil is pretty black so I'm assuming it's been a while. I have the Haynes manual, but I've never done this kind of thing on a car. Is doing a basic service (oil change, air filter and plugs etc) feasible...
  8. Classic Saab 9-5 (1997 - 2009)
the new 9-5 2.3 se auto is going well but seems a lot thirstier than the old 9000 despite feeling a bit lightweight by comparison.I'm getting 20-21 mpg in town with gentle use.Is this what you'd expect? Also is it best to use optimax or similar rather than standard unleaded? The handbook is...
  9. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
It's been so long that people probably don't remember that my Aero blew its head gasket at Goodwood a couple of months ago (yes, it's been that long!). Having removed the cylinder head a while ago, today I finally got cracking on the crankshaft pulley and the timing cover to replace the timing...

  11. Saab 9000 (1984 - 1998)
ok, following excellent advice from this forum ive tried to sort out the erratic idle that affects my '96 2.3 cse auto. The beast hunts from 500 upto about 1800 rpm before settling.Mostly from cold.So I attacked the intake components with carb cleaner, put it all back together and hey presto...

I've never seen this one before, can't make my mind up whether it's over the top or just an awesome beast... I suppose it is over the top, but I still would not say no. This is a 340,000km 9000 from Finland. This is the text on the car "Your Name: Jarno Country: Finland...

I've just been packed off in a 9-5 estate while my 9-3 is getting its 30,000 service. Nightmare! I was just getting to the point where the various squeaks and rattles in my 9-3 were no longer being picked up by my bat like ears & they put me in this!!! Even with a big tractor engine up front...
