Hi folks. I've seen various discussions about audiotrolls and stuff, and I thought I'd mention an alternative.
A bit of background: I've got a 2001 95 estate with an AS1, and words can't describe how much the AS1 sucks. I looked into buying an AS2, but there were two problems with that: getting...
My AS1 head unit has lots of faded buttons so the prevous owner has sent me a replacement he had ordered up.
Can I just swap this over or does it need anything special doing like 'marrying/divorcing' i've read about on here from time to time.
I keep seeing references to AS2 and AS3 stereo's so i'm assuming mine is the AS1 because it's compleatly rubbish
So is it advisable to 'upgrade' to AS2/3 setups, or simply rip it all out and use aftermarket headunits and speakers?
What is the 7 pin round DIN plug on the back of the AS1? I assume its for the CD auto changer?
Also does anyone know if the Aerial lead has any intermediate connectors between the aerial and the very odd plug that the AS1 docks back into? I want to tap into the cable and would rather not have...
Hello. I've bought a replacement 9-5 (MY2001) with the AS-1 audio. I am replacing an older 9-5 (MY1998) which had AS-2. I was hoping they could just be swapped over but it is apparently a major operation (5-10 hours!). Unless someone knows better of course!
Failing that, any suggestions on...
Classic Saab 9-3/GM900 (1994 - 2002)/Conv ( -2003)
I've only just joined the forum after recently returning the SAAB world after some time away - so a big "hi" to all
Anyways, had anyone else had a problem with their AS1 CD player refusing to take any discs? It ejects discs if they are pushed in (just had to see after much...
Bought a 2000 9-5 Est a couple of months ago, I have since found it has a Saab chip upgrade and roadholding kit that I did not know about
That got me thinking about the stereo and other options. So how can I tell what stereo option I have in my car?
Thanks in anticipation
I know that there have been various queries about changing AS1 stereos for AS2 or AS3 in the past, but is there anything relatively simple that can be done to improve the sound/power output whilst retaining the AS1 head unit??
Would upgrading the speakers alone make any difference?
Does anyone know if the AS1 audio system can be upgraded without the need for replacing with an AS2 system?
What I mean is, can one boost the output and put better speakers in the doors/parcel shelf whilst still keeping the AS1 unit??
