    Welcome to Saabscene, MKYBOY.

Good luck with your purchase. Make sure you check for any blue smoke that could indicate turbo wear and that the gearbox changes smoothly . Also check AC works as this is v. expensive to fix (true on any car).

As for mods, sort the handling first! There are lots of people who can give you better advice than me but with 185BHP on tap a well sorted chassis will help you use all of it!

    Re: HI ALL....

Welcome to the board - when buying check the electrics in general - the display unit(SID) can be a problem but not expensive to fix, listen for any front suspension noises especially over bumps(see other thread on this board). See what sort of work has been done on the car - previous bills etc. Lots of things you can do - I have had mine just under a year and am part way through - new springs - Eibach are popular but there are others, dampers can be changed, new exhaust system (part or whole), upgraded ECU, air filter, brakes etc - just depends on where you want to stop , but as Woofage states, probably best to start with the suspension. Have a look at Abbott Racing's site to get some idea.

    Welcome to Saabscene MKYBOY!!!

Nice to see someone else also buying a 900 Turbo.

Tell us more about the version you are after.

I will give you one advice only : Make sure ALL the electrical/electronic gizmos work to YOUR satisfaction
The SID display on mine had a buggered LCD display, that display cost nearly 500 quid from Saab, a used one not that much cheaper. Thankfully I negotiated a deal on that when was buying hehe..
Front fog lamps aint easy to do a bulb change either hehe... requires going under the car I been told.

Also make sure it has everything you wish in a car, so say supposing you want heated leather seats.. make sure it already has it cos it cost a bomb to do certain add ons and a lot may not be practical.

Listen to all the good advices here... I did and choose a very nice car as a result SO THanks guys

But all advices aside, I would recommend that you tell the seller you want to have the car independently inspected at a Saab Specialist. Best way to know if the car is in good condition or not.

    Re: HI ALL....

    Thanks everyone for the replys!

I'll take it all in and post some pics when i pick it up.

I think it should have 185bhp which is ok but i will sort the handling out for sure! (my last two cars were an WRX with 300bhp and a RX7 (3rd gen only just sold) which had over 300bhp )

    PS Keep the replys coming!!!

There is a fix for these via one of the links here somewhere. I replaced mine part exchange from Sout West Saab - £85 with 6 months warranty.

    Re: HI ALL....

I have fixed the SID display and the ACC display recently and they are still OK after 7 weeks.

A brief description of the SID repair is here:

    Re: HI ALL....

Mine were in a 9-5. Are the displays in the other models similar? I wouldn't want you to take everything apart and find it's all different
