Grateful for any advice/ pointers please?
Had my 1.9 TTiD Aero from new in 2009, 75k mikes, FSH, no issues. About a year ago my job changed meaning I was closer to home - like 2 miles rather than 50 - so my motoring became very much start stop. This started to take it's toll with the DPF firstly throwing on the Limited Performance. A deliberate trip down the motorway in 4th for 20mins every couple of weeks seems to stop that at least.
Last week after a steady dual carriageway way trip of about 10 miles, the EML came on, for the first time ever, and the car drove as if in limp mode with zero power. A recovery agent plugged it in to his code reader and said it was the EGR Valve. He cleared the code and followed me back home. The EML light was indeed off but the car drove as if it was on half power with the boost gauge only going about halfway.
I've fitted a new EGR; cleaned the EGR pipe (that was heavily coked up with only one of the three holes visible); fitted a new MAP sensor (old one just looked like a lump of coal!); and cleaned the throttle body... And it still drives the same - like 1/2 boost.
Having a look under the bonnet with it revving the boost pipe to the throttle body collapses at about 3000rpm+... so I swapped over the boost solenoids but that also made no difference.
I'm now thinking Swirl Valves - stuck? (Hopefully not broken off and sucked through and stuck in a turbo!!!! Too much research can be very frightening)... But inlet off to have a look is a job beyond my ability I'm afraid.
Any thoughts? - is there any way of checking the swirl valves function without removing the inlet? Or am I off to a specialist with my trousers down?
And as a final thought once fixed (fingers crossed), accepting the journeys I'm now doing, reckon I'm going to have to part with the car or it's just going to clog up again?
Thanks in advance
