Not a good idea now imo with the new MOT regs there is a hefty fine if you get found out.
You will also have difficulty selling the car...I nearly bought a vert last year until I discovered the DPF had been knocked out
and was easily visible when under the car.
In any case that isnt going to sort your immediate problems re turbo and inlet manifold.
You need to establish if the DPF is indeed badly blocked and if so can it then be recovered with a forced regen or potentially removing and reverse flushing/cleaning etc.
A remap to disable flaps and EGR will prolong the life of the DPF as well as pushing up the BHP if you so desire...and is just a software mod and easily reversed or tweaked.
We do about 4K a year in the 16v TIDsx2 and about 10K in another 8V TID with no DPF issues but monitoring regens and making sure they complete.

Fair point, will try a good clean, the turbo has not smoked in the slightest since RAC attempted forced regen, even though he aborted it, it still ran for a good 10 mins, i will change oil and manifold gasket over the weekend and check oil line to the turbo at the same time
