HELP! I cannot find anywhere to ask a question, but this thread might be able to direct me. My SAAB radio died and I replaced it with a Pioneer unit, installed by a specialist. All of the audio warning sounds do not now work. Is there any fix to this?

Hello mandal , I've started a new thread for youhoo .
Couple of questions
1) what model is your Saab ? Is it a 9-3 ? As you posted originally on a thread ref a 9-3 . So I've put it under the 9-3 sub menu , but if not then let me kniw and I can change it .
2) what model year is your car ? ( if it's a 9-3 then there was a dashboard upgrade from 2006 onwards )
3) what head unit was in there before ?
Just give us some back ground .
Also gave you been back to the installer to raise this issue with them ?

I don't know whether to remove the new radio and put back the broken one! I am worried about the safety of having no audible warnings.

9-3 2004 here. Awaiting upgrade from original disc player to Pioneer deh-s400dab single din unit.

From reading around on the procedure, one important thing for the installer to beware of with the 2003-2006 models, is the proprietary optical communication.
-The optical connection needs to stay together for the warning sounds to still work after removal of original CD player.
-And, in case of speaker rewiring to a new stereo unit, the warning sounds to be audible require at least one speaker to stay connected to original amp.

Hello ronors
Yes true , but the Original poster has not put what year and what head unit he had before upgrade .
I've asked him some questions and still awaiting a response .
I terms of the optical communications only the ICM 2/3 had optics with the icm 2 having an amp under the passenger seat ( uk spec ) and icm 3 having the same plus amp in boot .
If it's a icm 1 then no optics .
But in all cases it's the atchual EHU which lives behind the CD player that has to remain . To give warning sounds .
In the original posters situation, if indeed it is a pre facelift dashboard, and that the new head unit was installed professionally, and he paid for the install , then in my mind he should take it back and ask the installer to sort it out .
But also I would like to know what was taken out ,
If it's a post face lift dashboard, then no problems with replacing as no optics were involved as I've done the swapp myself with no issues.
But until the poster replys, then we have no clue as to how to help him .
