Thread: 9-3 audio install help

    Re: 9-3 audio install help

HELP! I cannot find anywhere to ask a question, but this thread might be
able to direct me. My SAAB radio died and I replaced it with a Pioneer
unit, installed by a specialist. All of the audio warning sounds do not
now work. Is there any fix to this?

I don't know whether to remove the new radio and put back the broken one! I am worried about the safety of having no audible warnings.

    Hello mandal
I've started a new thread for you see below , and I've asked some questions.
Also who installed it ? If it was a professional then I woukd go back to them cos if you paid for installing it then there is a comeback . But what year is the 9-3 ? Is the main question .

The basic Clarion single CD player drive used in the 2004 9-3 among others seems to have audio signal out to EHU, through optical output.
There are two optical connectors on the original CD unit rear, one going in and the other out. While the remaining pins seem to be for power only.

Comparing to PC CD-rom drives from the same era, i remember both analog and digital outputs at the same time was the standard. Though digital signal was optical SPDIF, not MOST.

Then could it be that the extra electronics board next to the CD unit is in fact a analog to MOST converter, with sorts of similar product function to this: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Optic...ct_top?ie=UTF8

If there are pins or solder points in there to support analog stereo RCA from other audio sources for direct translation to MOST and EHU, that would be more compelling when doing a CD player upgrade than the optical loopback bypass:
