    Sat Nav upgrade

My 2010 93 has the sat nav in it but its crap compared to a tomtom but like the built in look. Maybe with newer maps it would be better but hard to find.

What have others replaced it with?
Can you use tomtom on an Android head unit and is it as good as the stand alone TT units?

    Thanks

    Re: Sat Nav upgrade

I posted what I had done in the audio installs section, but I too replaced the stock HU but with a Kenwood unit. It doesn't have satnav, but unlike c2kev who prefers Google Maps, I prefer my standalone TomTom unit with live traffic which I think is far superior!

Oh, and I upgraded the standard steering wheel for the posh Saab chrome one too!

    Re: Sat Nav upgrade

I do like the look of yours Kev and don’t want a separate sat nav unit.
I don’t really need live traffic, not a lot of traffic where I am in France.
Might try to get a map update for the oem unit first see how it is keep tomtom in glove box just in case. Mine has a 2009 disk so no wonder its crap.

Anybody got a newer working map?

    Re: Sat Nav upgrade

Well I applied for a update disc for the OEM nav from Senitech and it didn’t work. They sent a replacement same thing so sending them back for a refund.
I think I could get at least £200 for the OE Nav unit so think will sell it and go Android.
Kev they don’t do the one you got anymore but this looks to be the updated model £184 with the offer but its only has a 1024x600 screen.

What was the odb reader you used for torque?

i will be upgrading to that headunit myself soon. Its basically the same but has the latest android system, better screen and what i really want - DAB radio support and mirrorlink.

The ODB i use is just a cheap bluetooth ELM 327 from ebay/amazon, cost less than a tenner

Wow I do like the look of that head unit and the price is very good.
What is the sound like? How do the Android head units compare to the standard head units sound wise?
I have the 7 speaker system with an amp that just powers the front speakers...

    Thanks for your response Kev..
Do you use a subwoofer or just the head unit and decent rear 6 x 9 speakers?
As you know the standard set up leaves a lot to be desired Bass wise..

I disconnected the rear parcel shelf speakers and fitted Vibe BlackAir 6x9s in the empty existing holes. I get some decent bass without a sub

    Re: Sat Nav upgrade

My amp In the boot only powers the front door speakers...
Try setting your fader to the rear speakers only and listen to how feeble they are..
Now set the fader to the front speakers only and note the difference.
