Hi, I have a problem with my 2002 Saab 9-3. This morning the TCS system light came on, and the light shaped as an engine came on indicating there was a problem. When I came to a stop, my idle revs had gone up to about 1500 revs, and not the usual 800/900.
I called out the AA, and he ran a diagnostic, which came up with a fault code of P1230. He made note "Fuel volume reg/Control" and reset the fault with his computer. It quickly returned after a short drive again. I have a friend who knows somone who works for Saab, and he says it sounds like a throttle body problem from what I described.
Apparently, the car has gone into 'limp home' mode, and power has been reduced quite a bit, and also now have no cruise control or traction control. When you turn on the ignition, you can hear 7 or 8 tick tick tick sounds from the engine.
Has anyone experienced this before, or does it sound like a throttle body replacement? Any answers gratefully received!! It looks like an (expensive) trip to my saab main dealer? How much does one of these replacements cost?
