Re: divorcing radio from saab 9-3

Ah ok - yes for a non-Saab unit you need to retain the old unit and keep it married. Its unclear from the OP if this is what he meant or if he actually means he's bought another ICM unit.

Re: divorcing radio from saab 9-3

Really? I added two different head units to mine and there was never a problem. In both cases the car started fine even though they were never divorced from the original vehicle. You may have issues...

    Re: Removal of rear badge.....

It sticks on with two little pegs to align the badge. Patience, care and fishing line will sort it.

Re: New Saab 9-3 Areo Owner With Questions :)

Look on ebay - they come up from time to time. I picked up a job lot of ACC panels and ICMs and in amongst them was a mint ACC panel and ICM2 - both now in my car.
    Only cost 40 the lot.

Saris Bones racks are generally thought to be the danglies when it comes to strap ons.
  7. Re: Volvos to a Saab to more Saabs its a strange addiction

Another ex Volvo owner here. I had an S70T5 (superb car) followed by an S40 2.0D (dreadful car).

  8. Re: Thermostat replacement with or w/out housing

No, it looks like its integral. There is no separate part number in EPC. Thermostat including housing is part number 24420728.

Sensor is available separately on part number 90542063

    Re: What dose a O2 / lambda sensor do ? .??

Lambda sensors measure the O2 levels in the exhaust gases and determine from that whether the mixture is correct (1st sensor) and the state of the catalytic convertor (2nd sensor). From these...

Re: 9-3 TiD Is it the best car for the job?

I'd go with a petrol car. Diesels and short journeys are a recipe for trouble.

    Re: CEL on 2.8 9-3 turbo X

If (when!) you need another coil pack Neo Bros do them for under 60 each. Coils are a regular occurrence on the 2.8 due to the high under bonnet temperatures.

    Re: Should I go for a Saab 9-3 from a 9-5?

Check the road tax (Autos are seriously expensive and not sure if the manuals are any better).
They also suffer from coilpack failures due to high underbonnet temperatures but thats about it.
    The...

Re: hids conversion kit off ebay

DRLs are designed to reduce intensity when used with headlights. Fogs aren't. Again - its illegal. A copper mate of mine in Lincoln has a favourite line when he stops people using them (he's like me...

Re: hids conversion kit off ebay

Its not about alignment or intensity. If VOSA do a vehicle inspection they'll come down on you like a ton of bricks because quite simply they are not legal.

Granted the Saab has a very clear beam...

Re: New Owner of a 2003 9-3 Linear

The kick of a turbo is what you get from old school technology where the engine had to run a lower compression ratio to avoid detonation issues. Modern low pressure turbos don't kick - they come in...

Re: New Owner of a 2003 9-3 Linear

Ok - if you had been in the UK and bought from a dealer you could have had the dealer fix it. No idea what rights you would have in the US.

In terms of the turbo, until you get rid of the P0244...

First things first... which country are you in and did you buy from a dealer? You may have some rights here that you could exercise to get this fixed.

Re: 2006 9-3 Aero gear Turret Removal

Removing the ABS is not trivial as you'll need to rebleed the entire system. To do that properly you'll need a Tech 2 so you can cycle the pump to remove air.
To remove it simply undo each pipe...

  25. Re: Subdued "beep" from the dash speakers every minute or so - Very Strange!!??

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 30minutes? I plugged in a diagnostic box a while back on my 93 and it made the TCS light come on and wouldn't reset for some while afterwards.
