    A different misfire...

    I have a 2005 9-5 Vector 2.3 wagon which had a failed turbo - so that was replaced with a TD04 and a Noob stage 1 remap.

6000 fun miles later it has started idling lumpily and occasionally...

    Re: Blowing exhaust, or gaskets?

OK, thanks. I'll give these a few days and check them again.

It sounds so much better now, back to a nice subtle sleeper. Still sounds like a bag of bolts compared to my V6's but then again it has...

    Re: Blowing exhaust, or gaskets?

    Problem solved.

I just had the aforementioned dig around under the bonnet and found that two of the three nuts holding the cat(?) and downpipe to the exhaust side of the turbo had gone walkabout....

    Blowing exhaust, or gaskets?

My 9-5 2.3t has done about 3500 miles since the big turbo upgrade and a Noob remap. It's incredible to drive. However recently it has been sounding a bit 'blowy' on startup (but quieter when warmed...

Re: Have I bought a lemon?

I'm sure mine will be a little better on fuel when I stop enjoying it so damn much ;-)

I've had more power on my drive before but never all in one car.

However.. at the moment most of my trips...

Re: Have I bought a lemon?

Just to finish this thread off in case anyone has been bored enough to read right through it: I ended up getting a local independent garage to fit a Neobrothers alternative turbo (not genuine, but...

    Re: 2004 9-3 1.8t New ECU problems

If you want to get it sorted without having to rebuy the Maptun again *and* get your stage1 back for far less money, talk to Karl at http://www.noobtune.co.uk. He should have the right maps available...

Where does the mileage reading come from?

I noticed today that the 9-5 I bought a few weeks ago with 125,000 on the clock is now reading 130,000. I know I've only done about 300 miles in it. Between when I bought it and now the ECU was...

Re: My First Saab plug change

..and now it's had a good long run as well as a dose of injector cleaner it seems to have sorted the hesitation nicely. I even managed to get in a couple of 'longer than 3 second hard pulls uphill'...

Well it did have the battery out for a week when the turbo was dead so I guess the gearbox counts as done, it was only the engine I was really concerned about since it was idling so much on a freshly...

    My First Saab plug change

Well, after losing my GT17 and replacing it with a TD04 and a noob stage 1 tune my 2005 9-5 wagon is really nice to drive now. The garage swapped the turbo over and cleaned it out thoroughly (any...
  12. Re: Chinese Android 2Din installed but frequently reboots if radio antenna plugged in

You saying that drove me to investigate a bit more.

It looks like there are quite a few variants which are basically the same innards in different combinations, and with different front panels....
  13. Re: Chinese Android 2Din installed but frequently reboots if radio antenna plugged in

I'm thinking of buying one of these, did you ever get it sorted?

Was it a Joying box, or a Pumpkin, or something else?
  14. Re: 2007 9-3 2.0 Ignition Won't Engage Starter-HELP

I mentioned something with symptoms like this the other day (not on a Saab) - there was a bad joint on the earth strap connecting the block to the chassis/battery, meaning that as soon as the starter...

    Re: The :Lemon (hopefully) returns...

OK, so the turbo was actually damaged, the GT17 shaft had snapped, hence oil leaving it in both directions.

It's all been cleaned out now, TD04 is fitted along with a noobed stage 1 ECU, and it's...

Re: Wow. I just got WIS. This is gonna be good.

I guess he was your brother or something? Or it's an amazing coincidence?

Thanks CaptainFRANK for packaging it up, it installed very smoothly. I've used similar things for other cars and some of...

    Re: The :Lemon (hopefully) returns...

Latest news: it's up on ramps being done. Sump cleaned out (not bad at all - this is for an '04 car (new PCV system) with 125000 miles on it which seems to have been looked after with annual oil...

Re: New ARB bushes and drop links

I spent literally hours once trying to get the ARB out on my first car, a Mark II Escort. I was hammering on it, trying to cut it, all sorts, and all in a precariously balanced car in a too small...

Wow. I just got WIS. This is gonna be good.

OK, so after pestering about all sorts of things on here I have now found the WIS and EPC downloads for Windows 10 x64, packaged up by captainjack and uploaded to Mega.

    I've installed WIS and I...

    Re: 04-on PCV maintenance

It still starts and idles fine (but smoky) with no horrible noises, so I'm expecting it to be seals rather than mechanical damage.

The place I'm going to is an independent who regularly deals with...

    Re: The :Lemon (hopefully) returns...

That's a good thought, thanks. I've looked it up and it looks like a job best done at home in several stages, so I'll leave that till I get it back up and running again.

    I just checked the service...

    04-on PCV maintenance

In addition to getting a TD04 on my 9-5 2.3t vector, I decided to replace the breathers while I was at it and bought the full kit including the oil trap.

However... having just been out to do it,...
  23. Air intake blanking plug instead of brake booster

    Me again, sorry...

My 54 reg (VIN says MY2005) 9-5 2.3t Vector does not have all the brake booster pipework coming out of the air intake near the throttle body. I'm sure I saw that this is normal...

    Re: The :Lemon (hopefully) returns...

    All good advice, thanks.

I checked with Neo that their 'alternative turbo' is rated to handle the Maptun stage 1 upgrade that they also sell and they're happy with that, so that's one potential...

    Re: The :Lemon (hopefully) returns...

Hmm... I'm just thinking, I haven't really seen any mention of the neobrothers 'alternative' turbos on the forums. I know genuine is 'good' and Chinese cheapos are 'bad' but this is somewhere in the...
