climate control

I own a 94 2.3t CSE with climate control. The trouble is that even with the temp set to 17c the cabin still gets unbearably warm. If I set it to LO then very cold air is blown in so I guess the air con is still OK. When I reduce the temp from higher (22c) the fan speed slows down but it still blows warm and eventually becomes to warm. I have reset the system and it does not come up with any error codes (ie the readout stays at '0') Any suggestions? (the interior sensor is spinning because I can hear it and the temp seems to drop briefly when you first reduce it)

The only thing I can think of is that the cabin air temperature sensor may be clogged with dust. You could try taking it out and giving it a clean and see if that helps.

Thanks Derek, I'll give it a try. I am a little loathed to just buy a new one if it isn't the problem and I can't afford £50 per hour labour to diagnose the fault!!
