Re: Whats one of these, please?
It's something to do with grounding the HT side of ignition systems, suppossed to improve things...
can't see it fitting to a DI saab somehow
According to japanese car forums, it does improve HP ever so slightly

Thats what I thought too, Leon
Very pretty though it would compliment my blue silicon vacuum pipes nicely

Re: Whats one of these, please?
I think it's supposed to provide an earth return for the electrics through these wires rather than through the earthing points and the bodywork of the car. It might give an improvement on some electrics if you have rusty earth points and this has enough connection points to be useful.
Probably works best if it comes in the same colour as your new vacuum lines

****! You've thought of the colour match already

Am I becoming predictable? And I need to get my 1000 posts, I never looked good in an Anorak!

Re: Whats one of these, please?
Just looking at the picture it looks like all the wires are joined to the same point so that would be some sort of star earthing system.
Star earthing (I believe) is a good thing to have in Hi-Fi equipment, so if it's for the electronics, then I suppose it's the same sort of principle.
I wouldn't have the faintest idea how effective it would be though.

Re: Whats one of these, please?
Throuble is, what is it to earth??
I can't be for the plugs, as they are burried under the DI and inaccessable, but is says it's for 9.3/9.5 models.
What else needs that level of earthing??

Re: Whats one of these, please?
I think I've seen one used as a battery negative terminal or something simailr.
Used to ground things straight to the battery, instead of through the shell/chassis.

Re: Whats one of these, please?
We have something similar on our boat where you have to have only 1 single earth point to the hull (which is connected via a huge switch to the battery negative).
Can't say I'd be bothered putting one in a car.
