Pre or Post SEC Meets?
All/.
Still hope to get to Bedford SEC AGM, may travel up Sat pm, get a couple of Beers in , find a B&B, and then fresh for Sunday.. .
Who is likely to be around Saturday for a Mini-get-together, or more likely a post-meeting thing on Sunday, as I missed the Tamworth Meet? .
Andy.

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
I'll be there for the meeting too.
We could do with someone who knows the area to suggest somewhere to meet up after the meeting, as there are some who'll want to meet up then.
Still don't know if I'll be taking the Carly though, as the VW won't cost me anything!

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
I have been saving the petrol - usually take the Carly to work once or twice a week, but it will have been sat in the garage for 2 weeks by this Sunday (if I can last that long!), so that may be enough to get down to sunny Bucks!

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
Have a nice day in Bucks Kevin....and do pop in on Bedfordshire to say hello to the rest of us on your way past

Julian/.
I was telling them at work yesterday that I was off to Staffordhire for the AGM, it was only when I said it was near Ampthill that some smartarse told me Ampthill was a lot closer to Dover than I though !!
Kevin, you are not alone.

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
Here's a map for how to reach Ridgmont Village Hall.
Please note, this is for the SEC AGM. Meet at 10am for 10.30am start. Car park is fairly small. All who are interested in attending AGM/joining club will be welcome.
Anyone who wants to take the opportunity for a meet afterwards I suggest that we suggest a venue and a time to meet. There are two pubs in Ridgmont but neither serves food and they are cr4p anyway. I have stopped at one of those harverster (naff) type pubs over on the A5. I'm sure there must be something better/closer.

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
There's a pub in Ridgemont, right on the main road that I can't recall it's name. Never been there, but I remember it because he has a chalkboard outside that always has some amusing topical/satirical comment. I keep meaning to go in there, because the quips always make me smile when I drive past it. I believe they do food?

Very good Mr Pedant!
I was thinking of Milton Keynes (Bucks), as it is one junction down. Doh!
Anybody any idea how long the AGM is likely to go on for? I want to go to the AGM, but also want to meet up with the others afterwards.
Simon/John - is the Ridgemont pub one of the pubs /John referred to as errm, not very good!? All we need is somewhere that serves food and has a decent car park. Don't expect dancing ladies and the Red Arrows - it'll just be Saabs / chat / food and beer for those not driving.

Kevin Mc[/qb][/b][/quote]I don't know - I've never been in it, but they advertise food on their boards. Like I say, I've noticed it primarily for the great funnies he puts up on the board. The one I'm thinking of, is as you come into ridgemont from the Chicksands direction. Go into the 30 limit, and it is on the right hand side as you drive through the village. Soon after the pub, you take a right to drive toward the M1; but I can't remember the name of it, sorry. It looks nice enough from the outside though.

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
Having done a search on the Good Pub Guide online, there is officially no known Good Pub with good food and good beer - anywhere in Bedfordshire.
Best I can find is: www.knifeandcleaver.com which is at Houghton Conquest, 5m south of Bedford and NW of Ridgmont. Just off the B530 - basically find Ampthill and drive north!
Bearing in mind SEC AGM starts 10.30am - might not finish until 12.30. Lets say start meeting at pub at midday onwards. Unless anyone can suggest anywhere better?
/john
NB: on their site, they say "At weekends PLEASE TELEPHONE FIRST as we cannot offer bar food on busy Saturdays and Sundays" - so looks like we need somewhere else.

Re: Pre or Post SEC Meets?
How about this one:
MILTON BRYAN Bedfordshire ENGLAND
Red Lion, South End, MILTON BRYAN , MK17 9HS Tel: (01525) 210044
just off A4012, 2½m S of Woburn Abbey and 3m E of M1 junction 12
A spotlessly maintained pub nestling in a peaceful old village and well placed for Woburn Abbey and Safari Park. The attractive exterior is festooned with colourful flower baskets in summer, and the interior has rug-strewn wooden floors and a wealth of beams and exposed brickwork. Expect to find Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Ruddles Best on handpump and a varied menu favouring fresh fish. There is a lovely garden, and children are very welcome inside and out.
Map
Can someone give them a call on (01525) 210044 to tell them that they will have a few Saab drivers turning up on Sunday.
Who do we have?
Andy, Neil, Kevin, Julian, Me, Simon, anymore?
