Cruise Control on my 92' 900

    Hi all.
I'm now a proud owner of a 92 model 900 sedan. It has a cruise control fitted, which doesn't work. Now my questions:

    - I have already looked at saab-900.com and found various faqs on how to fix it. One of them (saab cruise control diagnosis) says that cars from 92 and up have a different system than previous models, and is not covered by the faq.

    - The vacuum seems to work, since I sucked on the vacuum line, and the throttle moved, and held vacuum. Does this imply that the dump valves are OK? Or do they have yet another function? An electrical function that could very well be faulty?
    - The cruise stalk switch has four positions, OFF, TIP, ON and RESUME, but it seems that the switch can only be set in two of them, and RESUME can also be actiavted by moving the swtich to the left. Does this indicate a faulty switch?
    - It says that a cruise light in the dash should switch to ON when I set the switch in ON position. This does not happen.
    - The CC is on the same fuse/circuit as the cigarette lighter illumination light, but the cig. lighter light doesnt work (if it does, it does so very faintly). Could that indicate that the circuit has a break (the fuse is OK)

Any ideas or suggestions would be very appreciated.

    Hi,
Find the 'Townsend' website, the site is very helpfull for diagnosing cruise problems, from what you discribe it sounds like you switch is ok, it has two positions on, off and slide to the left resume, i dont know what tip does but my stalk is the same, check all fuses as the cruise uses about 4 in total, cant remember which ones but its all on the townsend site.
    Hope this helps
    Pete

    Pete, thanks for your reply

It was the Townsend website I was referring to, and the CC FAQ tells me that 92' models and up have a (slightly) different and more complicated CC system.
All the fuses are OK (all four).
