Heater arm repair kit question

The heater arm on my 1993 9000 broke off last week, and I ordered the repair kit from the dealer (part number 74 96 433). Picked up the kit last night, and I have one minor question. The metal arm part obviously slips down over whatever is left of the arm, and the pin hooks into the wire clip. My question is the rubber grommet with it. I cannot figure out how that might be used. Picture is (hopefully) attached.


Thoughts anyone?

The rubber bush in the kit is to modify the stop on the servo motor stop.
On the other end of the cable(inside dash) there is a metal stop for the servo arm, you fit the bush around the stop, so to shorten the length and stop the arm from breaking.

That does not sound like fun!

I assume that to get at the stop is a dash top off venture?

Will the world end if I don't modify the stop as well?
