Hiccup in lower gears

As I accelerate in 1 or 2 gear there is an occasional hiccup if I have the throttle 1/2 way to fully pressed.

Any ideas?

Is it an N/A or turbo?

If it's a turbo, does it feel like someone is slamming on the brakes for a split-second? If so, your wastegate or actuator may be stuck

Well it essentially feels like a sudden loss of power. Everything will be fine and then the power cuts and the car jerks a littel accordingly, but with in a second everything is back to normal.

I'm an amateur in mechanics. How would I go about checking the wastegate or acuator?
