    Torque setting of wheel bearing/hub

    i have an '87 9000 with a loose hub nut. i was wondering if anyone could look up the torque figure i need to tighten this up to (i really need a new nut, but this is untill i get it)

    PS - its a front one.. sorry

    Off the top of my head - 220 lb.ft
    The front LH one on my last car had a habit of coming slack. Loctite might be worth considering.

    yeah.. this is my front left one.. . i think it is because the way the thread runs, when the wheel turns forward,the force is exerted so that the nut is unscrewed...

    207 lbft according to Haynes - needs a big torque wrench. Once done, I have never had a problem with the nut coming loose. As you say, replacement nut might help aas threads on the nut might be slack.
