    Headlining Repairs

Saturday was bright & dry so I thought it was about time I attempted to remove the headlining to check out leaks from the sunroof and restick it, since it was coming down over the rear window.

I've read various threads here warning of the perils of this exercise, but I was happily surprised that the lining came out - in one piece inside of an hour on my own!

Admittedly, the damage through leaky rear washer valve had not deteriorated the lining card base too much but it was still fragile in places.

It was filthy! When it was out the muck around doorways and lights etc. was even more noticeable. How to clean??? Asked SHE WHO KNOWS about these things, and was told to use ACE, a clothes cleaner that actually works in removing stains. Neat on a cloth and wipe gently - Brilliant. Try it but not too wet.

All done - sunroof looked dry as a bone, all pipes clear so lining went back just as easy to my surprise. Drove the car on Tuesday, and bu99er me, the cloth' s come down again!! Anyone free on Saturday......

What did you used to glue the fabric?

I think I used some special UHU glue, similar to the one sold in tubets like teethpaste, but thinner as it was to be sprayed with a paint gun (an upholstery shop sold it to me.).
