2003 Saab 9-5 Turbo - Oil leak causing serpentine belt to slip off.

Hi! I own a 2003 Saab 9-5 Turbo. I have been having problems with the serpentine belt slipping off. I took it to the shop and was told that I needed new gaskets because an oil leak was causing the belt to become saturated with oil and slip off. But I'm still experiencing the same problems after the gaskets were replaced: the oil is still leaking and the belt has slipped off once again. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and what was the cause? Please help. Thanks.

    marshan323,

Have you checked that the crank pulley seal is OK and the 'O' ring seal behind the oil pump cover ? If these leak it gets all over the belt. Also, are there any signs of leakage from the water pump ? If the pump starts to fail then the pulley runs slightly off line and throws the belt. You might just see a few drops of water arounf the lower corner of the block.

    Paul @ Kippen.
