What year? Any symptoms 1st? When it is turning over, is there any smoke from the exhaust?

Lots of questions, but it may narrow down the cause....

OK, if there is no smoke, then there is no combustion, ergo no fuel.

Check the immobilizer first, it may be it has shut down.

I would check the injectors are getting fuel. You'll need a code reader to check for stored fault codes.

Possible the electric lift pump has malfunctioned or a relay or fuse.

First, get a friend to turn the ignition (but not to turn the engine over) to on where all the dash lights come on whilst you listen near the fuel pipes for a hum or a whirr. Also, look to see or even feel if the pipes quiver when the pump is supposed to deliver fuel to the main mechanical pump.

If that happens, then there may be a fault with the mechanical pump.

There are so many reasons the engine wont start....

Try removing one or two of the vacuum hoses that go to the vacuum solenoids on the side of the battery box. I did this to get mine started once. Sorry for the vague description, if you post a picture of youre engine bay Ill arrow the hoses for you. It turned out to be a vacuum solenoid issue stopped my 04 9-3 SS from starting. I have posted this before a couple of weeks ago, so give it a go.

I absolutely guarantee that the Diesel Particulate Filter is clogged to hell. This is what needs cleaning/replacing or your car isn't going anywhere. Same thing happened to my car when it belonged to my parents.

Surely a warning would flag up to suggest this is the problem?

On saying that a blocked exhaust will almost certainly prevent starting. But in my experience, there will always be a start then a stoppage in such a case?!

Am happy to be proved wrong though. I don't know everything
