2007 9-3 Aero Question / Advice
Hi folks,
I am currently looking at purchasing a 2007 9-3 Aero 2.8 6-speed with 78K miles on the clock. I took the car to an independent shop to have it looked at. Besides a re-painted hood, there were some stored ACM codes: B0031, B0083, B0020, U1601 (most are related to left deployemnt control). The CEL is NOT on, and the airbag light comes on when car is started and then goes out. The owner of the car said it was probably from when he removed the front bumper to replace the spoiler, and having the sensor unplugged caused the codes. He had them cleared and they have not come back. My question is whether this is a realistic situation, or should I be concerned? I have an OBDII reader, would those ACM codes show up that?
The car is pretty clean, but the floors in the back are wet. Looked that up and seems either the sunroof drains or a/c lines. The owner also just replaced 3 window motors and got a new key so it will come with 2. The inspection was pretty clean mechanically, no leaks at all.
Any help or advice on the ACM issue would be very much appreciated. If nothing to worry about, I should be picking this up on Monday.
Thanks,
Jamie

Re: 2007 9-3 Aero Question / Advice
On many cars, the 9-3 included, the front bumper needs to be removed for a whole multitude of maintenance and repair tasks - this should not however, cause any sensor errors. In my opinion, the car seems to have quite a few unexplained issues...

Re: 2007 9-3 Aero Question / Advice
Many thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to understand how the codes could be there if the system is working properly, e.g. airbag light comes on at start, diagnostics run, checks OK and light goes off. Could it be as simple as having a sensor of the ACM unplugged with the key in the ignition? I know the car is not perfect, I will need to do a thourough cleaning and flush everything, but it is reflected in the price of 11k US out the door. My concern is whether the airbags were activated since I am told it was never in an accident.
