Re: saab 93 aero low revs
Does the low idle cause vibration, or is it ok?

Re: saab 93 aero low revs
hi , i've got an se which has extreemly low revsabout 600 at best when starting then once its warmed up its idleing to high arround 1200-1500, it drives fine and there is no vibration except what you would expect from a cold engin getting going without a choke, noone seems to know why or what i need to sort this out, does anyone else have thes problems, i'm new to this site so i'm probably posting this in the wrong place but the other posts sounded like they could be related.

hi emmett welcome to ss
a few more specifics on your vehicle would be great, but could be one of the sensors that control vehicle some that are relative cheap and some not..........so to try and point you in right direction please give full details of vehicle.
a few basic things you could try first are check/clean
throttle body...............clean with carb or brake cleaner check operation of butterfly
maf sensor ...................spray with electrical contact cleaner and allow spray to fully evaporate beffore refit
air filter ..................... check renew if required
idle control valve (IAT).............check pipes to clean valve brake/carb cleaner
map sensor......................clean same as maf
further info on the above is available if you search this site or you get stuck.....maybe worth posting new thread on your issue
these are just a few relitave easy jobs to carry out without going in to any major expense to see if it improves your problem then you can go from there other components etc
if i was you i would post up a new thread rather than trying to revive an old one

Re: saab 93 aero low revs
Hi Emmett.
Firstly i would look at the plugs, need to be the right grade of NGK and NGK only - the DI (coil pack) is designed to work with NGK plugs only. Aeros are hard on thier plugs.
We do not stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.

strange one this any one ever got to the bottom of it ? ...........i know iridium plugs can cause issues on different engines but the fact that the b207 factory fit ngk plugs cant be x referenced with say another leading manufacturer denso or bosch of the same spec..... the engine can throw a fit lol its as if it has a human mind

Re: saab 93 aero low revs
^^^^^ i used human mind because it reminded me of my wife/kids dont want that make....want that one lol

When the engine is cold, and the revs are too low, does switching on the air conditioning seem to make it better?

Re: saab 93 aero low revs
I would defo say air flow meter as this or throttle position sensor cheapest option is air flo meter simple to change aswel
