Make sure you get the code from the AA chap.
Then enter it in the error code section on here for info http://www.permoveo.ltd.uk/tabid/122...b/Default.aspx

Start with checking the wiring and plugs to eliminate the simple/cheap things first, swap plug 6 with another cylinder and see if the fault remains on 6 or moves with the plug, if so it is most likey the plug.

Is this a common problem with saabs? Is it likely to misfire again? Maybe one of the others could misfire?

Its gonna cost over 700 squiddly diddlys I've opted to have all coils replaced as I've read up that the others could misfire n they will charge me the labour again + new spark plugs at 68 quid!aa warranty will cover some of the cost I hope. This is the biggest ever bill I've had of any of my cars I've owned, geeezzzz I'm glad I brought a saab

for £ 72.00 just replace the offending item If others then start to play up then change them as required. It looks like one coil per cylinder as opposed to being in banks of three. That being the case your warranty will only cover the faulty coil and not working coils - the other 5 will be down to you. I understand you wanting to get it right and be problem free but read on. I seem to remember reading that the coolant tank can leak and/or coolant spilled during filling which can end up no6 coil and feck it up. Change number 6 and see how you get on. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

the 2.8 has a single coil per plug like the 2.0,just change out the coil on cyl 6..
best would be swap it with another cylinder and see if the fault then jumps to that cylinder,if it does it's the coil if it doesn't & stays on cyl 6 it's the plug..

Well this what he's gonna do first ( I don't suppose he really will as most garages are cowboys) the thing is 1 I don't want to break down again 2 if I change just number 6 then next week another one starts to misfire then I'm left with having to take it back and get charged in labour costs again ( if I was car savy and was doing the job myself then that's what I would do if course but I'm not ) the warranty will pay for one coil and labour so at least that's something
