Today I picked up the parts to replace the Clutch flywheel etc,
On close examination the DMF is sachs, even though it is in a LUK box... ? Is this normal???, are they both the same company??. my worry is counterfeiting or reworked parts, passed off as new???
Emailed both SACHS and LUK, both responded similarly, with noteworthy and commendable speed, to the effect that...
".......Sachs + LUK had a joint venture on this engine, where by SACHS supply the DMF, and LUK supply the Clutch kit. We interchange product between ourselves so that we can infill our range and meet customer supply requests."
This is quite common with clutches. Nowadays there's only 3 major clutch manufacturers in europe (LUK, F&S Valeo) and they have a VERY cosy relationship! The advent of dual-mass flywheels has enabled them to take a stranglehold on the market.
Cosier than you may think, the clutch was marked LUK and Valeo!!!!!
