Hi all, I just bought my first Saab.
I just bought a 2002 9 3 SE with automatic trans and under 65,000 miles on it. 2 'issues' noted, one was an easy fix only needing a new fuse to get the power antenna and trunk light working again. The other is more of a puzzler. The 'Sport' indicater doesn't come one when the button is pushed. I asked at a Saab dealer yesterday and they told me no indicater is supposed to come on but my owners manual said differently so I am a little confused. Pushing the 'Winter' button does produce and dash notice.
Is there anything else I should be aware of or put on my 'to-do' list? Note...I am a, ahem ...middle aged lady with a bad back so I won't be doing any engine swaps or anything too ambitious but I am not afraid to tackle minor wrenching jobs so long as somebody can tell me what to do without too much mechanicese.

Re: Hi all, I just bought my first Saab.
The sports button should light up on the dash. It might just be a faulty bulb or the function might not be working at all. When you engage sports you should feel an instant difference in the throttle response, it should take off like a rocket, if there's no difference it's not working. If cruise is engaged sports will not work anyway.
Which engine have you got and how many miles?

Re: Hi all, I just bought my first Saab.
Hi bartwins,
It has the 2.0 L in it and if I am reading the owners manual correctly it is the 205hp engine. I'll play with sport mode a little this morning. Now that I have read that it reverts to the regular mode after the car is shut off I am not worried about leaving it in the mode when I don't feel like goosing it. Oh..and the car has just under 65,000 on it.
