1994 SAAB 9000 CD turbo convert (B234 engine) - possible?

Hi all,

I was polishing my car today, and apart from some 3-spoke rims I'd like to get to replace the standard chasers, I had a thought - would it be possible to convert my 1993 October SAAB (apparently that makes it a 1994 model) with the B234 engine (non-turbo) to a turbo?

I believe I have read somewhere that it is possible with a 900, but cannot seem to find any information about the 9000.

I'd like to know how feasible it would be/what parts would need to be replaced etc. and an average idea of cost, if anyone would know. If possible, it would be great, and could give me a little more power to an otherwise excellent car.

You need rather more than a turbo engine. The wiring loom and complete ECU system is different and would need to be changed together with the the addition of the intercooler and injection system (and, I think, the fuel pump and fuel system). (As it happens I have a 2.3 FPT with good engine and turbo standing in the drive going for scrap value (need to get the new wifes car in! Its an auto with a noisey gearbox. As it a '96 you may need to check the gearbox type you have, a true '94 model should be OK. Are you anywhere near Kent?).
