hi all , Im in desperate need of help , here's the thing . Ive changed all but 1 corner of my pads the rear drivers side is not having any of it , the piston will just not turn to go back into the caliper, Ive got the tool to retract the thing but it just will not budge . Im wondering if having the brake pads near to the metal might be the problem .is there a way i can loosen the piston ,any spay i can put on to help? any help ill take.

The pistons do no turn they just push back into the caliper. Any spray that you use for lubrication will have to get passed the dust seal before it gets to the piston.

If the piston is corroded then if you do manage to get it back into the caliper it may damage the main seal which will lead to more issues. If it were me ,and i had the time, i would use the pedal pressure to push out the piston and then give it a good clean before refitting it and bleeding the brakes.

One thing is that if the pistons was seized then the pad would not be worn so it may not be as bad as first thought.

cheers for the reply kenny, heres my updatefirstly i was pig sick at trying to turn the piston although i had the tool, and found no real way to get some real monkey strength to help the issue........ so heres what i did.1 removed handbrake cable spring,2 unlinked the cable from the housing (just un hooks)3 clamped brake hose (used a pair of mole grips)4 released brake cable from caliper this gave me just enough to rest the caliper onto something solid (ply on floor) and gave me enough to hold the thing down whilst turnning the piston back, it took some effort but after about 5 mins gentle turnning we were there .5 refit as removal6 bleed system7 test brakes on short drive.As i said in post ,i thought the piston was seized..... how wrong was i thanks for the hint on the pads kenny. cheersSorry guys forgot to mention its a 93 tdi 2006.

That explains it, this is a forum for the 9-3 up to `02. I was wondering why you were trying to screw the pistons into the caliper and you were wondering why i was telling you to push the pistons in.
