I am planning to look at this car at the weekend and was curious as to opinions on value for money, any things over and above normal checks to carry out on one of this age and mileage.

    Thanks.

    "Big" things to check...

Bulkhead- take a careful look at the pedals whilst quickly moving the steering wheel left-right with the engine running but car stationary. If there is any movement be suspicious. Models fitted with 17" wheels do seems ot suffer more than others.

Ask them to make sure the car is cold, and you want to see it started from cold. Check the engine is cold to the touch. A puff of blue smoke on start up is a sign of turbo wear and it will need replacing at some point.

Listen for any whine on first start up (turn the aircon off) that may indicate a blocked strainer. Check to see if it has had the sump dropped and latest pcv kit fitted. These are strong points for negotiation.

Make sure the roof operates smoothly.

    Smaller stuff

    SID pixels

Check the auto trans fluid after a test drive

Do the ACC calibration to check for faults

Presumably the A/C check is pressing Auto and Off together as in my 9-5?

I would hope at this relatively low mileage that the turbo should be OK, bing an Aero I also hope it has had full synthetic oil but you can never really know.

How long should the roof take to open and close approximately? If Iike it and it checks out I may try a cheeky bid of £3400 cash no trade in!

    Thanks.

Yes, it's the same ACC check.

Not sure how long the hood should take I'm afraid.

My hood operates fully in approximately 13 seconds. Be wary of any squeals or rasping sounds and it should be a smooth operation
