Thread: Brake Light/Rear Light Failure 2006 Aero salloon

  1. #1
    Hi there,

I've just got a warning message about my brake lights/rear lights, There's something slightly strange going on in that with the lights off, the brake lights seem to work fine, but opperate the side lights (little front bulbs) at the same time as the brake lights come off.....
When I turn the lights on, the high level brake light comes on, albeit dimly, that gets brighter when the brakes are activated...

I've checked fuses and all seem fine in the dash board fuse box... any other thoughts?

    Greg

Hi there, check out the broken wires in boot hinge topic pinned above. It gets them all eventually!

Thanks for the reply, I've just checked them, and they all seem fine except some wore showing on the yellow/green cable. The rest look in good nick, is there anything else it could be?

Make sure you pull the rubber boots back at either end to check the cables.

If no sign of breaks here then try taking out the brake light bulbs asnd cleaning the sockets they go into to make sure you have a good contact, possibly replace both bulbs as well. I had something similar on a Mondeo a few years ago and it was an earth loop caused by poor connections in the bulb holders.
