Sorry, not familiar with all styles of Saab CD players - is this a separate unit in the boot that has a magazine for the CDs, or the slot in the dash, as on my 9-3 vert of '06 vintage?

Either way, here's my experience with both sorts, FWIW.

When a CD jammed in my boot-mounted 6-stack Alpine unit in a previous car, I took the top casing off (unit on the bench) to reveal the mechanism. By manually turning the gear sprockets, I rewound the offending CD tray into the magazine. It worked fine after that, until the next time several months later. I became a dab hand at it.....

When my Saab one jammed (purely because of my hamfistedness/not having read the handbook) I managed to ease the front of the CD player off slightly, after popping the aircon panel out and drawing the ICE gubbins, (which is below the ACC, and not the radio controls panel, which is above), out of the dash. You may need to jer-jiggle it over the ashtray.

Careful, but non-scientific - ie by more luck than judgment - poking around resulted in the CD suddenly releasing itself. Not a method that could be adopted as a "how-to", but it worked on mine.

Of the two, I'm obviously a lot happier with the first repair, but still have to say try at your own risk!

Its the unit mounted in the dash below the vents but I cant even see any discs so i think its a trip to a specialist repairer,

    thanks anyway.

Hope they can fix it - it might just turn out to be the opportunity you're looking for - to buy one of these all-singing all-dancing aftermarket units!!

    Malcolm

Edit: when I did mine, I couldn't see any discs until the unit was at least partway out of the dash and the front teased to one side, when I could see the offending disc, and the mechanism. But it is tight.

Bit like me, I suppose, hence me trying the free fix first!!
