Thread: any lawyers?

Hello all. Purchased saab 9-3 linear 120 8v 2005. When purchasing i heard some noice and asked for seller (as he call him self dealer) what is that, he replied it is just belt, put some grease and will be ok. He gave me some printed out paper with "service history" whitch noted cambelt replacement at 78k, alternator replacement at 80k. Dealer sayd he will take for HPI check before selling, well i sayd ok. After i purchased, next day i nocied some vibrating on clutch pedal, what later i figure out is reson of flywheel failure.... after checking whats the noice from under the bonned was (mention before) mechanics thought it is becouse of water pump.so i bought water pump and timing belt kit + track rod ends, suspention arms as apeared they were completely worn out, so timing belt and water pump replaced the sound was still there, plus when mechanics took off the cover they sayd that timing(cam) belt never been replaced as paint seal wasnt damaged before.but in "service history" it sayd it was replaced.
What we eventualy figured out ir was alternator. All this costs much money. i spend so far 750£ on it. What i want to ask,
is there any chance to claim the money i spend on repairs from delaer, as he did not informed me about faults car had?in legal or other ways?

Going to law is very expensive and uncertain and you will not be able to claim for parts which were renewed and not part of the problem. If the car was sold by a dealer, you have more rights than if you just bought it from a "man in a pub". Your best course of action is to go to Trading Standards - your Local Authority's reception desk will advise you.

You have no chance at all if you didn't go back to the dealer in the first place and ask him to fix it, you would have to prove that the cam belt hadn't been changed which would be very difficult and even then, you can't prove anything was wrong with the cam belt as such so it may not have needed replacing. Also, what mileage is the car now, you don't say but it would be relevant, if it is now at 100k for example and the alternator was replaced a couple of years ago that would be considered normal wear and tear, as you didn't give the dealer a chance to fix it he could argue that it didn't need an alternator or he could have done the job cheaper.
