turbo gone ordered one from saab had to pay in advance as they state special order all so insisted cash unless trade company policy mmm any way handed over £697 with vat got haynes manual had a look no help dosent seem to cover 2.2 ,? any tips advice please here.
seems having run bad luck within last 6 mounths new egr valve new inlet manifold and very exspensive inlet to cooler pipe

hi i've not done one but it looks pretty straight forward,just wanted to say if the turbo has 'gone' and filled the intercooler/ pipes etc with oil you will need to empty the oil out as a diesel will run on engine oil and can potentially rev its self to bits when started... D.F

thanks for reply sounds like good fun more exspense just been serviced 6 weeks ago i wonder how long these turbos usually last , getting conflicting in formation im told new turbos only saab every where else states recon on about surcharge for old does anybody no especially re- warrantys

I did this nearly 2 years ago, same car & year.
It is straightforward but I encountered snags. When I removed the exhaust manifold with the turbo mounted, I had problems separating them as the studs and nuts were difficult to shift. On refitting, the worst problem is tightening up the turbo oil return pipe union on the engine block because of difficult access (can't use a ring spanner or socket).
I'd also recommend replacing the intercooler as it will be contaminated with oil and on this age of car probably leaking air anyway (£110 from Adrad).
Careful with the intercooler hoses, clean & dry out, replace with new jubilee clips. New hoses are very expensive.
New turbo + new intercooler = rejuvenated saab.
