I have got the uni-directional "teardrop" 15 inch Aero wheels and, due to greater tyre wear on the front than the back, I wanted to swap the wheels front to back but I noticed that the front ones have an offset of 5.5J and the rears are 6J. Is this standard and does it presumably mean that it is not possible to swap any wheel to any other position on this car?

It's a right pain if true because I was hoping to stick the rears on the front rather than buying a couple of new tyres in the fairly near future.....

    Thanks, Brian

Sounds like you have a pair of 900 teardrops on the front and 9000 on the rear. The same design was produced in different offsets for the two cars.

No problem swapping them around- the 9000 ones do fit the 900 without any problems unless you have loewered suspension AND 9000 size tyres (195/65 as opposed to 185/65 or 195/60) on them in which case you may get some rubbing at the back. No problems on the front though.

Great news - I'll swap them tomorrow.

    Many thanks.

Minor point - that's not offset - that's rim width. Offset is the distance between the centre line of the wheel and the mounting face. It'll be cast onto the face of the wheel, with the size - ETxx

Assuming the offset is the same, then the extra half inch will be split equally between inner and outer faces, so the same size tyre will sit in exactly the same place within the arch.
