I think they must, but i only say that, as the hand book covers the manual operation of the softop should an electrical/motor problem occur, and step one is listed as: pull down rear seats to access boot area.
On the rear seats there is a slot for your ignition key (my is located n/s next to the head rest) insert your key and unlock the rear seats, ensure you turn far enough to unlock both sides

Do we know where the boot release solenoid wires run? perhaps you can pass current through them and open the boot that way. Anyone got a wiring diagram that could help isolate where the wires are, and which one to liven up?
Yes to both.
The boot release is a button on the drivers door but this will NOT work when the hood is down.
And when you drop the rear seats there is a ski flap

Not having a vert I didn't think of this excellent security feature! Ski flap I was thinking of is behind my centre armrest. How did you eventually get in?
