On a long journey the cabin temperature will drop after an hour or so, so I increase the set temp by 1C. After another hour or so it will drop again, and so on. I often end up with 25C set temp instead of 22C. When this happened a couple of years ago, I bought a new cabin temp sensor and things improved for a while. Last week in a journey of about 350 miles, I ended up with the temp set to HI occasionally to get some heat out. Switching the ACC off for a few minutes improved things.

    So the questions:

    1) Is it likely to be the cabin temp sensor again? Do other people's only last 3 years or so?
    2) Could it be something else, like the sun sensor over reacting with time?
    3) Is it possible to replace the electronic widget in the cabin sensor as a new sensor is not cheap?

    Thanks as always.

    Mark,

It's always worth picking the accumulated fluff off the sensor element. Just use tweezers to pull out the grille then carefully pick off the fluff. It tends to have an insulating effect on the element.

I did that when I got to the end of my journey, and strangely enough the return journey wasn't as bad, either 2 or 3 degees up after over 500 miles. I've found my old unit and an now hunting for a suitable replacement thermistor to make a usable spare.
