I have a 1995/N 2.3 lpt 9000. It has central locking, although you can only lock and unlock from the driver's door. You can lock all the open doors from the passenger door, but not unlock all locked doors. Is this right, or should both doors have the same operation?
I'm looking for the most cost effective way of making my SAAB more secure and have central locking.
All recommendations gratefully received!

Michael,
To improve your security situation I think you will need to fit an aftermarket alarm system. Mrs P @ Ks '95 LPT came with one as did my previous one of that vintage. Later cars had a full factory fitted alarm / immobiliser system as standard.
I think your lock / unlock scenario is standard.

My '95 Aero's central locking works perfectly from both sides ie boths sides lock and unlock all doors. I know this because my two year old is now too big to sit behind the driver's seat in his car seat so I have swapped him to behind the passenger seat and hence use both door locks regularly.

Thanks chaps, I have a quote for £150 to have a Toad alarm fitted by a local alarm company.

To be fair as long you don't require a Thatcham Certificate, fitting a decent alarm immobiliser in a 9000 is so simple, all the worst bits of wiring for the alarm side are accessible from inside the car, there's a bloody hoofing great bung down in the passenger foot well which serves for taking wires into the engine bay, I fitted mine with little auto electric experience in just under 21/2 hours, PM me if you would like more info.
