9-3 150 VECTOR

I have a 150 Vector sportswagen auto. 2006. The fuel consumption is really poor. Approx 30 mpg. That is 4 miles of motorway and 8 miles of urban for a trip to work. Surley it should be better than that? Also when approaching a roundabout you have to antisipate the gap as it seems to have [best discribed] as a massive turbo lag. Very un-nerving. Could this be due to the engine managment or the auto gearbox. Anyone any idears?

Welcome to Saabscene, you do not say whether your car is a 1.8t turbo petrol 150 bhp or a 1.9 TiD turbo diesel 150 bhp, it is very relevant, if you have a petrol the the fuel consumption is not that far wrong, but the turbo lag will need looking into, if the car is a diesel then you are probably suffering from the EGR valve issue, there is lots of information on this forum and in this section about the EGR valve problem on 9-3 1.9 TiD's. Either way the type of jouney you are doing is not going to give you a very good over all fuel consumption, it is simply to short!
